Mediation

Rozlyn Haley is a certified mediator and volunteer with the Conflict Dispute Resolution Center (CDRC) of Missoula County. She practices facilitative mediation, a voluntary and confidential process that requires mutual consent from all parties.

Mediation takes place in a neutral setting, fostering open and respectful dialogue. Rather than imposing solutions, it empowers participants to craft agreements that are mutually acceptable and tailored to their unique circumstances. By actively engaging in the resolution process, parties can address their challenges constructively and reach solutions that work for them.

Unlike adjudication, which focuses on assigning monetary value to past harm and balancing legal rights, mediation is future-focused and allows parties to craft solutions beyond what the law quantifies. Mediation considers broader factors, including relationships, communication, and personal interests, leading to more practical, and just outcomes for those involved.

Participants are never required to reach an agreement. Even without a resolution, mediation provides valuable benefits, helping individuals clarify the conflict, articulate their position, and improve communication—skills that can be beneficial if the issue proceeds to adjudication.
